Angel Lullaby

When I was just a baby my mom used to sing a lullaby that I loved and I've been meaning to look up the lyrics because I can only sing the chorus and hum the rest. So i finally looked it up tonight. The song is from the musical My Turn on Earth and is named Angel Lullaby. So if for some crazy coincidence you need these lyrics too here they are :)

You came from a land where all is light
to a world half day and a world half night.
To guide you by day, you have my love,
To guard you by night, your friends above.
(Chorus)
So sleep, sleep, till the darkness ends,
guarded by your angel friends.
So sleep, sleep, till the darkness ends,
guarded by your angel friends.

There's one stands softly by your bed
and another sits close with a hand on your head.
There's one at the window watching for the dawn,
and one waits to wake you when the night is gone.

Hi, I'm a random blogger who stumbled across your site.

I love this song, and my other favorite from My Turn on Earth is "I'm the one who write my own story. I decide the person I'll be. What does in the plot, and what does not, is pretty much up to me." It goes on about when we make mistakes, need to erase, that it was figured out before, this thing called repentence, can wipe out a sentence, a page or a chapter or more. Aaah, precious words, as are the lullaby words. Thanks for posting this.

Hi! My dad would sing this to me and my brothers and sisters when we were young as well. If you want to see a nice rendition of it, I found one on youtube. Here's the link:

I was falling asleep this evening and started to sing this song. I used to sing it to my two sons, who are now 26 & 29 ys old. I was a bit rusty in remembering all the verses in order. So I got out of bed and here I am. :) Thank you so much for helping me because you posted the song.
Sweet dreams to you Zjani!

Zjani,
Wow! I am writing a letter to Bridger to take with him into the service, and couldn't remember a line from this song that I used to sing to him. I googled it and couldn't believe my eyes when your blog popped up!!! What a miracle of modern day technology. I love you are your sweet little family. Love Aunt Becky

I sang this to my baby who died six weeks ago of SIDS. He was six months old. I am putting these words on the top of his urn, because they describe how I feel and that I know I will see him again.
Thank you for putting up these lyrics. I wanted to find them to make sure that I had remembered them correctly.
If you want to see a picture of him look me up on facebook under Heather Lynn Briggs Nelson.

I have a daughter that is not active in church. Yet, she sings this song to her four children each night. They also want to have her sing I am a Child of God and I Love to see the temple. When they come to spend the night we cannot go to sleep until we have sung all three songs. I saw My Turn on Earth in Spokane, Washington many years ago. It remains one of my favorite musicals. Thank you.
